COMET vs SIK MUSTANGS (A-laget): 1-7

Sunday, November 9th, Halden

BOTH TEAMS WERE EXPECTING A TOUGH GAME AND PARTS OF THE FIRST PERIOD LOOKED LIKE IT WOULD BE.

THE MUSTANGS CAME TO PLAY AND IT DID  NOT TAKE  LONG  TO GET THIS SHOW STARTED. COMET GOT A TASTE OF THE VISITORS  SKATING, PASSING AND SHOOTING SKILLS AS THE MUSTANGS HAD  MOST OF THE PLAY IN THE COMET ZONE.

SIK PEPPERED COMET’S  SWEDISH GOALIE WITH 18 SHOTS AND COMING OUT OF THE FIRST PERIOD WITH A 2 – 1 MUSTANG LEAD. MICHAEL GUNDERSRUD AND TOUGH GUY DANIEL BERG PROVIDED THE SCORING.

INTO  THE SECOND PERIOD,  ONCE AGAIN THE  MUSTANGS LOOK LIKE THE BETTER TEAM BUT CAME UP A LITTLE SLOPPY WITH A FEW PASSES WHICH GAVE COMET A LITTLE LIFE .

OUR GOALIE KRISTOFER HAGEN IS AN IMPORTANT MAN TO SIK! HE CAME UP WITH SOME GREAT SAVES AND IS A SOURCE OF CONFIDENCE TO THE TEAM.

SANDER MYKLEBUST CAME UP WITH A WELL EXECUTED POWER PLAY GOAL AT 27.02 IN THE SECOND PERIOD AND WITH 4 SECONDS REMAIMING OF IT, NIKLAS BARLUND MADE IT 4-1 WHICH PROVED TO BE A BACK BREAKER FOR COMET .

COMET STARTED  THE 3RD PERIOD WITH  A 5-3 POWER PLAY BUT IT SEEMED LIKE THEIR DAY WAS OVER EXCEPT FOR SOME UNSPORTSMANSHIP PLAY TOWARDS THE END OF THE GAME AND MORE FRUSTRATION .

THE LINE OF SNIPER ANDREAS KJUS,  TRICKY DICKY GUNDERSRUD END SPEEDSTER EVEN OPPHEIM EACH HAD A GOAL.

KJUS MAKING IT 5-1

ALL LINES WERE IN THE SCORING WITH FLASHY NIKLAS BARLUND ADDING HIS SECOND OF THE GAME IN THE 3RD AS THE MUSTANGS WERE GALLOPING AWAY WITH THIS ONE.

EVEN OPPHEIM WAS FED BY GUNDERSRUD OFF THE FACEOFF IN COMET’S ZONE WHILE  COMET WAS STANDING AROUND WONDERING  WHAT HAPPENED.

WELL PLAYED GAME PROVIDING GOOD ORGANIZED PRESSURE IN THE OFFENCE ZONE WHICH DICTATED A SOLID DEFENSIVE TASTE TO THIS LOPSIDED CONTEST.

FINAL SHOTS WERE 46 – 17 IN FAVOUR OF THE VISITING MUSTANGS.

GOOD LEADERSHIP FROM «SPARK PLUG» HÅKON LIA TO KEEP THE BOYS ON THEIR TOES AND A HEADS UP PLAY FROM MR. THOMAS JACOBSEN PICKING UP 2 ASSISTS.

3 STARS OF THE GAME:

1 – MICHAEL GUNDERSRUD
2 – KRISTOFER HAGEN
3 – NIKLAS BARLUND
